Withered garden for withered ideas

I found this cenotaph of War World I strolling by the center of Rome.
In a small garden left to itself, this motto stands out:

HEAVEN STANDS BELOW THE SHADOW OF SWORDS

The fallen soldiers, whose names are engaved on these tombstones deserve the utmost respect, but this concept is now one century old  and it is time that it remains only in the history books, for a safe future for all.

Passeggiando per le vie del centro di Roma mi sono fermato ad osservare questa lapide commemorativa della Prima Guerra Mondiale. In un giardinetto lasciato a sé stesso, spicca il motto:

IL PARADISO E' ALL'OMBRA DELLE SPADE

I caduti i cui nomi sono incisi su quelle lapidi meritano il massimo rispetto, ma quella frase ha ormai più di un secolo ed è ora che rimanga solo nei libri di storia, perché tutti noi possiamo avere un futuro.

A new chapter ...

Christmas and his holidays are gone and the new year is now fully in charge.
It's time to write a new chapter of our story.
Everybody, let's do the best we can!

Natale e le feste sono passate, il nuovo anno ormai è una realtà.

Who fears the polar bear?

Even if this is only an ice sculpture, made for the Rome New Year Eve, a polar bear always deserves respect.
Congratulation to the artists Andrea and Alessandro Vitale.

Anche se è solo una scultura di ghiaccio ideata per festeggiare l'arrivo del nuovo anno, un orso polare incute sempre rispetto.
