Withered garden for withered ideas

I found this cenotaph of War World I strolling by the center of Rome.
In a small garden left to itself, this motto stands out:

HEAVEN STANDS BELOW THE SHADOW OF SWORDS

The fallen soldiers, whose names are engaved on these tombstones deserve the utmost respect, but this concept is now one century old  and it is time that it remains only in the history books, for a safe future for all.

Passeggiando per le vie del centro di Roma mi sono fermato ad osservare questa lapide commemorativa della Prima Guerra Mondiale. In un giardinetto lasciato a sé stesso, spicca il motto:

IL PARADISO E' ALL'OMBRA DELLE SPADE

I caduti i cui nomi sono incisi su quelle lapidi meritano il massimo rispetto, ma quella frase ha ormai più di un secolo ed è ora che rimanga solo nei libri di storia, perché tutti noi possiamo avere un futuro.
